How do XP, ranks, bingo balls and prizes work in After Bingo?

Updated on

Every round you play to its end pays two things. XP lifts your level and your rank, from Whippersnapper at the start to Centenarian at 55,000 XP. Bingo balls are the currency: you spend them at the Prize table on knives, outfits and dash trails for your man. Each new rank from Early Bird up gives a prize of its own, and the golden knife waits at 1,000 kills.

What a round pays in XP

A round pays 20 XP for playing it to the end, 10 XP a kill, 50 XP for the win (a shared first place counts) and 25 XP an award. Then come the named bonuses: First of the day, Daily win, Win streak, Flawless, Line or Full house for kills with many weapons, New ground for your first round on a map, and Company for every human you play with. Against bots the total is multiplied by the difficulty, by 0.75 on Easy up to 1.5 on Very hard; online it is the plain amount.

During a round, every kill floats its XP over the kills counter, and the pause menu says what the round has paid so far. The bonuses and the multiplier are added at the end, on the scoreboard's first card.

The ten ranks

The ranks are the names of a life at the club, from Whippersnapper to Centenarian. Your XP never goes down, so a rank once reached is yours. Crossing one puts its name on the scoreboard in gold and plays a sting.

Levels

Each rank's band of XP is cut into equal levels, short at the start and longer further up, so every rank begins on a new level. That makes 46 levels before Centenarian; after it, a new level comes every 2,500 XP, with no top. Your level shows on the title screen, in a gold disc before every name on the scoreboard and beside every name in the online lobby. The bots wear a level too, drawn from their difficulty's range; theirs is for show.

Bingo balls

Bingo balls are earned beside the XP, from the same rounds: 10 for the round, 3 a kill, 10 an award, and a bonus for your place, 40 for first and less down to sixth. Damage dealt, a good hit rate with a gun, a long run of kills, three kills or more without dying, and the day's first round and first win all add some. Against bots they take the same multiplier as the XP. You cannot buy balls; you can only play for them.

Prizes

The Prize table holds nineteen prizes in four slots: knives, outfits, hats and trails. Of those, nine are for sale in bingo balls, and nine come with the ranks, one for each rank from Early Bird up, given by the round that takes you over the line. The golden knife is for 1,000 kills. A knife changes the blade you hold, an outfit your clothes, a hat your head and a trail the streak your dash leaves behind; none of them changes the damage, the reach or the speed.

Press a prize you own to wear it; press one you can afford and the table asks once before it spends the balls. Every knife and every outfit fits both men you play. What you wear goes online with you, so the others see it too. Bots wear nothing.

The five awards

At the end of each round the scoreboard hands out five awards, and each one you win pays XP and bingo balls:

The five awards of a round
AwardWho wins it
Top DogThe most kills in the round, at least 1
On a RollThe longest run of kills without dying, at least 3
Dead EyeThe best share of gun shots that hit, from 5 shots and a hit
First BloodThe first kill of the round
Punching BagThe most deaths, at least 3

Where to see it all

  • The Profile, the card at the top right of the title screen: your level and rank, the bar to the next level, your bingo balls, your man in what he wears, and the doors to the Prize table and the Stats panel.
  • The Stats panel: rounds, wins, kills, deaths, damage dealt and taken, your hit rate, your best round, the kills with each weapon, the awards you won and your last ten rounds.
  • The title screen: your level, rank and XP on the line under the logo, and your bingo balls in the counter at the top right, which opens the Prize table.

All of it is saved in the browser you play in, on that device; there is no account. Another browser or another device starts at Whippersnapper, and clearing the site's data clears your progress too. Rounds against the bots and with friends both count. The FAQ has more on saving, and how to play on the round itself. Then go and earn some.
