Which maps does After Bingo have?

Updated on

There are two, both drawn from sketches. Four Seasons is a forest cut into a spring, a summer, an autumn and a winter quarter, with the weather of each. The Community Centre is a bingo club in a retirement village: a hall, a chapel, a games room, a car park and a garden with a gazebo. You choose the map before every round, alone or online.

The two side by side

The numbers of each map: its size in tiles, where players and weapons start, how many health packs it has and how long a round lasts there.

Four Seasons

Four Seasons from above: a forest with a spring, autumn, summer and winter quarter round a clearing

One forest of 64 by 54 tiles inside a ring of trees nobody walks through. Spring at the top left drops petals, autumn at the top right drops leaves, summer at the bottom left glows in the sun and winter at the bottom right snows. The four quarters meet in a clearing in the middle, and that is where the bazooka lies. Each quarter has a shotgun and a tazer of its own and three of the player spawns along its edge. Logs, big stumps, fallen trees and the bare winter trees stop a man but not a bullet.

Everything about the forest, quarter by quarter: Four Seasons.

The Community Centre

The Community Centre from above: the bingo hall, the chapel, the games room, the car park and the garden

A bingo club of 48 by 56 tiles with eleven rooms: the bingo hall, the lobby, the north hall, the sitting room, the lounge, the games room, the east corridor, the chapel and its runner, the day room, and the toilets with the cloakroom. Outside lie the car park, the forecourt, an alley, the lawn and a garden with a gazebo. Doors are two tiles wide, the furniture and the cars are cover, and the bazooka waits under the gazebo's roof, which hides whoever stands beneath it.

Room by room, with where every weapon lies: the Community Centre.

What the two have in common

  • After a death you come back at a player spawn with no enemy close by, or the one farthest from them all.
  • Both hold the same seven weapons to pick up: the bat, the sledgehammer, the shotgun, the flamethrower, the tazer, the SMG and one bazooka. The knife is what you spawn with.
  • Each has six health packs that heal 30 and come back after 25 seconds.
  • A round lasts five minutes on either.
  • The trees in play hide whoever stands under them, and on the Community Centre so does the gazebo's roof. Bots lose a hidden man unless they peek.

Which one to pick

Pick Four Seasons for long sight lines and running fights, where the SMG and the bazooka come into their own. Pick the Community Centre for close quarters: the shotgun behind a door and the flamethrower in a full room. Both are there when you press Play against the bots and when you host a game to play with friends.

The match setup shows each map as a card with its own drawn icon; online, the host picks the map for everyone in the lobby. The weather on Four Seasons is only for looks, and Options switches it off if the snow or the falling leaves get in your way on a small screen.

How the round itself works, and how to hide, is in how to play. Ready? Play a round.
